| Klondike KaTE!BAND BIOGRAPHY The story of KLONDIKE KATE! is a fairly interesting one. You could say Kate stole Jeff from another rock band, ...but in the NW music scene, that's a familiar story. The band was formed in early 2010, after Kate happened upon a Tacoma house party. After walking through the door, Kate noticed a long-haired Timbales player (Jeff) pounding out Americana punk for the band, The Fun Police. After the show, the two began to talk & really hit it off. Kate shared that she wanted to start a band & Jeff shared that he played a MEAN GUITAR. They both agreed that was enough reason to start jamming immediately. Thus began KLONDIKE KATE! Kate first learned to play drums from punk drummer, Bob Bulgrien, a early member of the NW punk band, Seaweed. She grew up in the Seattle-Tacoma music scene, working at Tacoma's Community World Theatre, just before Seattle hit its zenith as the mecca of 'Grunge' music - when Non-NW bands were repackaged as 'Seattle' bands & locals were left to grow mushrooms in their soggy backyards...but that's another story, for which you'll have to ask Kate about, after a show. Jeff Millar started banging at his guitar as a kid in Suburbia Illinois. After high school, he moved to Lake Worth, Florida, giving himself up to the sun & surf and hanging out at a rock club called, Respectables. In 2008, he moved to the rain-soaked NW to care for his mother & to play rock & roll. In the spring of 2010, Jeff & Kate began jamming in her converted chicken shed complete with soundproofing, twinkling lights, & walls covered by band flyers. By the summer of 2010, they'd created a set of songs. On August 10th, 2010, they made their debut at the famous rock & roll club, Hell's Kitchen, in Tacoma. While perhaps not their most notable performance, it kicked off a string of shows located at venues throughout the Northwest...continuing to date. During the summer of 2011, Jose Sanchez, the bass player for the Foxhole Whores, joined the band after watching the duo play live at a Tacoma Pyrate Punx house party. The three musicians holed-up in Jose's jam space for a week of marathon band practices before hitting the stage at The New Frontier Lounge in Tacoma on August 5th, 2011. In Dec. 2011, Jeff, Kate, Betty Bass, and Go Go participated in a music video shoot, directed by Cameron Couch, on December 26, '11. It took place at The Worlds Famous Java Jive venue, (a roadside attraction shaped like a teapot) for the song, Wonder Woman. During December to February 2012, other musicians played with the band. Betty Bass played bass for two shows, and rhythm guitarist, Ashley, and bassist Phaedrus, played three shows. Rebekah Rosand, (Go Go Dancer) joined the band. In February 2012, original bassist, Jose Sanchez, came back to the band, bringing back the original magic that makes the band fun! Go Go also stayed on...becoming the forth permanent musician in the band. February 25th, 2012 8-track EP "Claim Jumper" was released. View Klondike Kate! music videos are on youtube.
